SDEA Day Out: ‘I Came At Last To The Seas’ Performance & Backstage Tour/Dialogue

Dear Members, The Membership Engagement Sub-Committee took your suggestion for more socials and learning journeys, and ran with it. We are so happy to be able to bring to you ‘SDEA Day Out’ where members can connect and get to know one another.

On our first SDEA Day Out of the year, don’t miss this exclusive learning journey to watch a performance, and learn about stagecraft and the philosophies of artists and designers from Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and the Netherlands.

SDEA would like to offer members a 20% discount off CAT 3 tickets to Esplanade’s Huayi Festival opening production by The Theatre Practice titled “I Came At Last To The Seas”. This multi-disciplinary performance looks at migration and the Chinese diaspora, and features an international team of talents from Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and the Netherlands.

The performance will take place on Friday, 23rd February 2018 at 8pm and is performed in Mandarin with English subtitles. Read more here.

Backstage Tour & Dialogue: Stage-craft 

For a booking of more than 20 tickets for the 23rd Feb performance, Esplanade offers a specially designed Backstage Tour cum Dialogue with the designers on the Saturday, 24th February 2018 at 2pm-3pm where you can learn more about stagecraft and find out first-hand what is involved in the design concept for the production and how the different design ideas are realised.

1. How much is the ticket and how do I make payment? 

SDEA will foot a 20% discount on the ticket price CAT 3 ($53 + $4 booking fee). You will save $10.60 on each ticket purchased. To book your place, please fill in this google doc and make the payment of $46.40 via bank transfer by Friday, 2 February 2018. A confirmation email will be sent to you 3 working days after we have received your full payment. You will receive your ticket on the day of the performance itself.

2. How do I make the bank transfer?

SDEA members can perform the bank transfer to: Beneficiary Name: Singapore Drama Educators Association Bank Name: OCBC Bank Bank Code: 7339 Bank Branch Code: 501 Bank Account No. : 501577175001 Please remember to indicate your name and ‘SDEA Day Out’ as the transaction remark.

3. When will you confirm the Backstage Tour & Dialogue?

The Backstage Tour & Dialogue can only happen with 20 sign-ups for the performance. Look out for an email from us on Monday, 5 February 2018 to confirm the Backstage Tour & Dialogue. If sign ups happen to be fewer than 20, you will still be able to watch the performance but without the Backstage Tour & Dialogue.

4. Can my students attend the performance and Backstage Tour & Dialogue with us? 

Yes, they can provided that they meet the minimum age for admission to the performance. Students 15 years and above can watch the performance at student prices ($27, $41) and all secondary schools (Upper Sec), Junior Colleges/Central Institute & ITEs may use the Tote Board Arts Grant. However, SDEA won’t be able to provide additional subsidies on these tickets.
