Embedded in her lectures are the centrality of the imagination in education, the importance of experiential encounters with works of art that open to new possibilities, and the importance of the arts in valuing cultural diversity.

About Maxine Greene:
Maxine Greene was a professor of philosophy and education (emeritus) at Teachers College Columbia University and philosopher-in-residence at Lincoln Center Institute. She holds a BA from Barnard College, an MA, a PhD from New York University, and ten honorary degrees. She founded the Maxine Greene Foundation for Social Imagination, the Arts, and Education at Teachers College in 2003.
