Connections Workshop: Adapting Drama Games for the Special Needs Classroom

The workshop “Drama for Special Needs: Adapting Drama Games for the Special Needs Classroom” was held at Goodman Arts Centre on 10 October 2015.

The session was co-facilitated by SDEA Members Julius Foo and Michael Cheng.

The participants came from various backgrounds from ITE College West, to early childhood and MOE schools to programmers from the Science Centre.

At the workshop, participants were introduced to the principles of planning and facilitating drama sessions for different contexts and different purposes. They also learnt how drama can help the physical and mental development of special needs students.

At the end of the workshop, the participants were able to select, plan and adapt games for the profile of needs that they work with.

The participants appreciated the co-facilitation and learnt much from both Julius and Michael who together had great dynamics within the session. The participants also kept in touch via email and created a network of support.
