SDEA Annual General Meeting 2025
SDEA will be hosting its 23rd Annual General Meeting in-person on 23 September 2025, at 7pm. All members are invited and encouraged to attend and take part in the AGM in this important year, and to nominate and elect the SDEA Committee for the next two years.
What to look forward to:
- A look back at FY2024 (April 2024 - March 2025)
- A look forward at upcoming SDEA programmes and initiatives
- Voting and Election of the new Committee for 2025-2027*

*Note that only ordinary members are eligible for nomination and may vote for the upcoming elections. But all members are encouraged to attend.

Nominations for Committee 2025-2027
The current Committee for the term of 2023-2025 will end their term on 23 September 2025 at the 23rd Annual General Meeting, and a new committee will be voted in to lead SDEA and its advocacy and professional development efforts for the next 2 years. This could be you!

In accordance with the constitution: Names for the above offices shall be proposed and seconded at the Annual General Meeting and election will follow on a simple majority vote of the members. All office-bearers, except the Treasurer may be re-elected to the same or related post for a consecutive term of office. The term of office of the Committee is two years. Re-appointment of the outgoing Treasurer may be considered after a lapse of at least two years.

Eligibility
Nominees must be Ordinary Members to be eligible for nomination.
In accordance with the SDEA Constitution, to qualify to stand for election to the Committee, a candidate has to be a fully paid up member of good standing with SDEA, and has to have been an active member of, or active volunteer with, SDEA prior to their consideration for election.

Nominees must attain a backing and seconding member. The backing member must provide an 80–100 word testimonial. Backing members should also have been active members of SDEA.Active Member / Volunteer
Nominees must have attended, volunteered, or contributed to at least one SDEA programme or initiative in the last 2 calendar years. These include but are not limited to:- Attending or running a workshop at the Theatre Arts Conference
- Attending a Professional Development Programme
- Taking part in Focus Groups or other Advocacy Initiatives
- Contributing or Taking Part in any other SDEA projects
- Participating in a subcommittee or interest group
Prior to Consideration
Any of the above must be valid before nominations are open. I.e. to qualify to be an active member, a nominee must have already participated in a programme prior to the AGM.

Nomination Process

- The nominee will need to provide an 80-100 testimonial as part of the form on why they should be voted in
- The nominee will need to get the support of 1 backing member, and 1 seconding member. The backing member will need to provide an 80-100 word testimonial as part of the form
Return the completed form to membership@sdea.org.sg before the AGM, after which your eligibility for nomination will be assessed by the election committee
Eligible nominees will be made public from 26 August onwards
Voting will be decided by simple majority
All nominees will be invited to give a short 3-minute speech followed by a short Q&A before voting for each role at the AGM
In the event of a tie, the chairperson of the meeting will have the deciding vote
In the event of there being only one nominee for the role, nominees will have to pass a vote of confidence of 50%
