SDEA Introduction to Drama

This bridging module aims introduce the elements of drama education. Participants will learn practical strategies that can be applied during classroom drama lessons across various age groups. Upon completion of this module, participants will gain a better understanding of the various ways to facilitate learning and teaching through drama.

  • Drama Games as Teaching Tools
  • Introduction to non verbal communication in Drama
  • Voice Techniques and Verbal Dynamics
  • Using Improvisation and Role Play to devise Characters and Narratives.
  • Integrating Poetry, Readers Theatre and Choral Speaking

Bridging Course with SDEA Drama Pedagogy: Essential Teaching & Learning Practices: This course also acts as a bridging course for those with little to no drama experience, and thus do not meet the minimum requirements for SDEA Drama Pedagogy: Essential Teaching & Learning Practices, but would still like to attend the course. Please indicate in your application for SDEA Drama Pedagogy that you will be attending SDEA Introduction to Drama if applicable.  

Course Schedule: The course will take over 3 sessions, 3 hours each. 21 February, Thursday, 7 to 10pm 22 Feb, Friday, 7 to 10pm 23 Feb, Saturday, 2 to 5pm  

Course Fee: $360 (including admin and registration fees)  

Subsidy: Members of SDEA, will be entitled to a discounted price of $300 for the course.
