Serious Fun: Playmaking with HOIPOLLOI
Date: 21-22 (Sat-Sun) February Target Participants: O and A level Drama students (16-18 year olds) Time: 9.00am - 5.30pm
In this two-day workshop, run by Jill Norman, associate artist with UK award winning theatre company Hoipolloi, we will playfully explore techniques and approaches used by the company when making work. Taking the theme of inclusivity within the city as a stimulus, we will devise, write, and create short performance pieces, together and individually, that are based on cultural identity and personal experience. Participants will also have the opportunity to develop skills and share ideas through the world of improvisation, the imagination and comic performance. There will be a work in progress presentation on the second day. Please bring with you a sense of humour, a willingness to make mistakes and an ability to laugh at ourselves!
Workshop fee: $80 inclusive of ticket to Hoipolloi’s production Story of A Rabbit on 20 February 2009
